For members aged 16-25
The DofE Award is an internationally recognised achievement. It looks fantastic on job, college and university applications because you demonstrate valuable skills and attributes, such as commitment, confidence, teamwork, leadership, fitness and navigation.
A lot of people think DofE is just about the expedition, but that’s just one section. By supporting the programme, you can help girls get registered for DofE, support them to choose their activities for each section, check in with them as to their progress and make sure they get their assessors to sign off at the end of each section.
The length of time taken to complete the award varies at each level. For the volunteering, physical and skill sections you need to spend an average of one hour per week. You have until your 25th birthday to complete the award.
More information can be found on the DofE website. If you want to start working on your DofE award, please talk to your unit leader or the Bucks county DofE adviser at dofe@girlguidingbucks.org.uk.
