Residential Events
Residential events are fun and some of the most memorable experiences girls and young women have with guiding. They offer opportunities for adventure and also for learning and developing skills like teamwork, leadership and independent living. Leaders get to know their girls better in a relaxed environment.
Venues that are approved by Girlguiding Bucks for residentials are listed below in the 'downloads' section.
Going Away With (GAW) Scheme
This is a flexible, modular training qualification. Candidates need only complete the modules required for their responsibilities at an event. For more information on the scheme see the guidance for leaders on this page and on the Girlguiding website.
Bucks Guiders can be assessed at any in-county venue for the standard GAW assessment fee (see form in 'downloads' section), there are a few out of county venues that can be assessed for the same fee, these are listed below in the 'downloads' section.. If any other venue is chosen, then the normal assessment fee isn't payable, the expenses costs of the assessor will be charged at the current county rate.
Risk Assessments
These will be needed for each event, travel to/from the event and activities during the event. They help you look at an event from all angles and imagine 'what if' scenarios. They are working documents that are updated throughout the planning process.
RENs
These need to be completed by the event organiser for every event. See the girlguiding website for the most up to date forms. You can download guidance for commissioners when they sign a REN at the bottom of the page.
Guide Camp Permit
Guides can gain their Camp Permit See the guidance on the Girlguiding website to get started. See the 'downloads' section below for the County application form to register.
Lead Away Permit
