Is this the first time you want to take your girls on a residential? or are you feeling a bit rusty because you haven’t run a residential in a while or just need an update?
The ‘Going Away With’ Skills Day will give you the chance to exchange ideas with your peers and learn from experienced Guiders in the County. Then you will be ready to prepare and run a residential event for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Rangers and achieve the GAW scheme.
Girlguiding have introduced a new online system for the GAW on the learning platform and are encouraging everyone to use it. It results in the same qualification and should make it all easier as the answer to most of your questions will be a click away.
Qualifications achieved under the old scheme are still valid.
The course uses a series of scenarios and trainings to help you think about the planning and organisation of your residential. You also have a mentor to discuss the detail with and the help of the County adventure team.
On the skills day we will be looking at organising and running a residential and how to use the new system.
The cost of the skills day is, £15.00 for up to 2 leaders, it is a legitimate expense against your unit accounts.
To apply:
The fee includes tea and coffee, but you will need to bring a packed lunch. Suitable activity uniform should be worn
Further information regarding the programme and your receipt will be sent to you closer to the Skills Day date.
