Girlguiding is part of a truly global movement, and we can offer members a vast range of amazing international adventures. In Buckinghamshire, Girlguiding offers a wide range of international adventures for girls and adults, from County trips, to Division, District and Unit trips and the opportunity for individuals to take part in Region and National trips as well.
Past County trips for girls and adults have included: World Scout Jamborees; trips to Jamborees in Finland, Luxembourg, Netherlands; Ulster; Sri Lanka; Mongolia; Iceland. World Centre trips to Sangam, Our Cabana, Our Chalet, and the Scout World Centre in Kandersteg. Other trips have included The Azores, Malta, New Zealand, and Canada.
Take a look at what we have coming up:
We are looking at some amazing locations for trips in the next few years and, during February/March 2025, we will be inviting applications from adult leaders to lead or be part of a team taking county trips.
In March 2025, we will be inviting guides, rangers, and young leaders to apply for county trips in 2026/2027.
INTOPs selection day for adults and girls will be on Saturday 5 April 2025 at Herons Lodge, Milton Keynes.
More details of where and when we plan to go, and application forms will be available in due course.
Guides, rangers, and young leaders are invited to come along and cook a two-course meal outdoors, cooked by any means of your choice and served to our judges. There will be two events, one at Herons Lodge on 29 July 2025 and one at Ellesborough on 5 July 2025. You need only come to one event – whichever is preferred. More details to follow.
There were two Buckinghamshire County trips taking place in August 2024 – one to Malta and another to Kandesteg in Switzerland. Three Anglia leader trips are taking place this year too – 2 to Our Chalet Adelboden in Switzerland and one to Sangam in India. We look forward to hearing all about their adventures.
A Bucks county trip stayed at KISC (Kandersteg International Scout Centre) in August 2024. 8 Rangers and 3 leaders enjoyed a trip to chocolate and cheese factories, trips to Bern and Gruyere, a boat trip on lake Thun, a hike into the alps and a visit to the glacial lake Ochinensee plus a day out to Our Chalet in Adelboden. They also experienced all that the 'permanent mini jamboree' site had to offer. They made friends from across the world, tasted food from other countries and earned Kandersteg challenge badges.
"What a week we had in Malta. We were hosted by 31st Mosta Girl Guides. We had a boat trip to Comino (swam in the Blue Lagoon), went to Gozo ( Ggantia, Ta'pina, the Citadel and quick stop at the beach in Xlendi). On Malta we went to Xrobb L-Ghagin Nature Park and Wildlife Rehab Centre and saw turtles and hedgehogs being rehabilitated for release, Marsaxlokk market and beach, the Aquarium, and St Paul's bay, a day in Valletta where we visit Co St John's Cathedral, the Palace then a boat ride to Birgu for the Maritime Museum (it has the bed that Nelson and Lady Hamilton used), Mosta Dome and WW2 shelter. While we were there it was Fiesta week in Mosta, so we had fireworks each day and nights, watched the parades, and listened to the bands." From trip leader, Toni MacDonald.
