International Adventures in Girlguiding

Girlguiding is part of a truly global movement, and we can offer members a vast range of amazing international adventures. In Buckinghamshire, Girlguiding offers a wide range of international adventures for girls and adults, from County trips, to Division, District and Unit trips and the opportunity for individuals to take part in Region and National trips as well.

Past County trips for girls and adults have included: World Scout Jamborees; trips to Jamborees in Finland, Luxembourg, Netherlands; Ulster; Sri Lanka; Mongolia; Iceland. World Centre trips to Sangam, Our Cabana, Our Chalet, and the Scout World Centre in Kandersteg. Other trips have included The Azores, Malta, New Zealand, and Canada.

If you have any questions or would like more information on any of the above, please email Margaret Lorton at: International@girlguidingbucks.org.uk

County International Selection for Trips in 2027/28

This event is for both adults and girls and will take place from Friday 13 until Saturday 14 March 2026 at Ellesborough. Girls need to attend the full event, adults need only attend on the Saturday. Application forms and further details available by clicking the button below.

2026 - Upcoming International Adventures

Two County trips are planned for 2026 – one to Gibraltar and one to the Netherlands. Planning and meet-ups are already well underway. The Guides and Rangers taking part were selected at last May’s County International Selection event.

2025 - Unit Travels

Although there were no County international trips this year, several units still travelled over the summer. Downley Rangers enjoyed a mystery weekend, and Buckingham Rangers took part in the Ranger subcamp at the Irish Girl Guides’ ORBIT camp near Dublin in August. Both trips were great experiences for the girls.

Trips in 2024

Two Buckinghamshire County trips took place in August 2024 – one to Malta and another to Kandersteg in Switzerland. Three Anglia leader trips also took place; two to Our Chalet in Adelboden, Switzerland, and one to Sangam in India.

Bucks County Trip to KISC 2024

A Bucks County trip stayed at KISC (Kandersteg International Scout Centre) in August 2024. 8 Rangers and 3 leaders enjoyed visits to chocolate and cheese factories, trips to Bern and Gruyère, a boat ride on Lake Thun, a hike into the Alps, a visit to the glacial lake Oeschinensee, and a day out at Our Chalet in Adelboden. They also experienced everything the “permanent mini jamboree” site had to offer: making friends from around the world, tasting food from other countries, and earning their Kandersteg challenge badges.
